Exacter Field Data is Showing Grid Vulnerability to Lightning Strikes – Surg e Arresters Make Up 20-40% of Deteriorating Line Equipment Findings

Exacter Field Data Showing 20-40% of Electric Utility Lightning Arresters Will Not Protect Against Electrical Surges or Lightni

COLUMBUS, OH, United States, via ETELIGIS INC., 03/26/2015 – – Lightning arresters/surge arresters are electric utilities’ first line of defense against surge-related power outages. However, current field metrics from Exacter, Inc. are showing that 20-40% of the problems they uncover on the grid are these devices. Exacter grid inspection surveys and analytic reports covering millions of poles across the US power grid reveal a significant amount of lightning arresters have either failed or deteriorated in performance, and may not protect against surges. “There are often no visual or heat-related signs that a lightning arrester is deteriorated or has failed making it almost impossible to determine if each arrester is in working condition,” states Geoffrey Bibo, Exacter President. “Our proprietary technology has been very effective at identifying and locating the Failure Signatures™ associated with arresters and our data is showing that about 20% of the problematic conditions we find are related to these devices. In the southeast that number is more than 40%.” To see Exacter’s cumulative data on deteriorated equipment across the US power grid, click this link, http://www.exacterinc.com/problematic-equipment-statistics

Industry statistics seem to validate Exacter’s field metrics showing 20% of all power outages (more than 372,000 annually in the U.S.) occur because lightning arresters had failed prior to the lightning strike. What makes this problem even more significant is that when an arrester fails, all of the equipment it was supposed to protect can be damaged – often causing prolonged power outages.

“In the past utilities have been frustrated because there has never been a cost-effective, logistically-viable means to evaluate arrester health on a system-wide basis,” continued Bibo. “However, with the advent of Exacter technology, utilities can identify arrester Failure Signatures™ across a system — and in a matter of about 6 weeks, receive maps, GPS locations, and a photograph of all the lightning arresters exhibiting signs of deterioration – everything necessary to take targeted action.”

With electrical storm season fast approaching, this is a very strategic time for utilities to consider shoring-up their lighting arrester defense shield. Because an arrester protects multiple devices and sometimes impacts multiple commercial facilities, targeted efforts toward these devices can have a very positive return on investment.

“We have developed a specific survey called The Lightning Arrester Verification Program,” states John Lauletta, CEO and Chief Technology Officer at Exacter, Inc. “We provide a 40,000 ft view of where the problems are. While we will identify a comprehensive list of faulty arresters, we often recommend a strategy of targeting components on key circuits near reclosers, substations, and commercial/industrial locations that will have the biggest impact on overall reliability. This approach is more cost-effective and allows the utility to deploy its field resources to the most important targets – and we provide actionable data in a matter of weeks.” Learn more about lightning arrester testing and maintenance here, http://www.exacterinc.com/verification-of-lightning-arresters

Proprietary Exacter technology identifies leaking current, which is the primary sign of a failed lightning arrester. Vehicles equipped with Exacter technology drive circuits and report the GPS locations of equipment that is arcing, tracking, or in the case of arresters, leaking. Field verification teams go to each location using ultrasonic technology to confirm the problematic condition. The final report includes pole numbers, GPS location, GIS compatible files, and a photograph of the actual deteriorating or failed equipment.

Since 2007, Exacter has surveyed millions of utility poles. Their field-proven process is highly accurate for identifying equipment in deteriorated or weakened condition.

“The statistics don’t lie. There is a significant portion of the utility industry’s lightning arresters in a deteriorated condition. With an aging distribution infrastructure, the problem is only going to get worse,” concluded Lauletta. “By shoring up a utility’s defense shield, you minimize collateral equipment damage from lightning strikes. The Lightning Arrester Verification Program provides utilities with a strategy to evaluate and strengthen their lightning protection before the spring storm season.” A recent White House study on Grid Resilency discusses investing in ways to improve grid reliability, see it here http://www.exacterinc.com/White-House-Grid-Study

Exacter, Inc. is a provider of predictive technology and grid health inspection services to the electric utility industry. Data gathered through field surveys provide valuable management analytics for the development of a variety of reliability strategies. Exacter field analytics and intelligence is also being used for the quality assurance of Smart Grid systems, AMR systems, and critical measurement of transmission lines.

Global Oncology Launches Global Cancer Project Map to Improve Cancer Control W orldwide – in Collaboration with the National Cancer Institute

BOSTON, MA, United States, via ETELIGIS INC., 03/25/2015 – – Nonprofit Global Oncology, Inc. (GO) today announced the launch of the Global Cancer Project Map, a first-of-its-kind online resource and virtual information exchange for connecting the global cancer community. Developed by GO in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Center for Global Health, the Map enables worldwide access to cancer projects and expertise to improve cancer practices and patient outcomes, especially in low-resource settings.

The Map was unveiled at the Symposium on Global Cancer Research, which is sponsored by NCI, the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and is taking place in Boston, MA.

GO developed the Global Cancer Project Map to fill a crucial need for shared resources: According to the World Bank, only five percent of global health funding for cancer is committed to oncology in developing countries. This number stands even though Africa, Asia, and Central and South America account for 60% of the world’s new cancer diagnoses and 70% of the world’s cancer deaths, according to the World Health Organization.

“The Map is an important and innovative step forward in our effort to reduce health disparities and strengthen human capital in underserved areas of the world,” said Michele Barry, MD, FACP, and Director of Stanford University’s Center for Innovation in Global Health. “With cancer rates rapidly increasing in low-resource settings, the Map creates a place where the global cancer community can share and access information that is critical to providing better treatment and care.”

The Global Cancer Project Map is an interactive online database that allows users to search for cancer experts and research projects by country and by cancer type, and then to initiate contact with project principal investigators and program directors. The Map launched with more than 700 projects spanning six continents. The goal is for the Map to grow exponentially as awareness builds and an online tool is added in late 2015 allowing users to upload projects directly.

The Global Cancer Project Map covers a wide range of projects, from cancer prevention and screening to capacity training, clinical programs and palliative care. Illustrative projects include:

– Improving diagnostic accuracy of mammograms for breast cancer in Turkey through new methods;

– Preventing arsenic-induced skin cancer in Bangladesh through the study of vitamin E and selenium supplementation;

– Creating an early screening test for gastric cancer in Mexico through biomarker identification leading to an early screening test.

According to Dr. Ted Trimble, director of NCI’s Center for Global Health, though many dedicated researchers and caregivers are conducting groundbreaking cancer programs around the world, until today they could not reference the collective knowledge and experiences of their colleagues in one central place. The Global Cancer Project Map has been highly anticipated in the cancer community and will make a significant impact in cancer patient care and global health.

“Before it was difficult or often impossible to find information about cancer projects or experts, especially in resource-limited settings,” said GO co-founder Ami S. Bhatt, MD, PhD, and Assistant Professor, Stanford University. “The Map now makes it possible to connect colleagues in the global cancer community with a maximum of six clicks of a computer mouse.”

“We have the ambitious goal of providing access to every cancer research, care, and outreach program in the world through the Map,” said GO co-founder Franklin W. Huang, MD, PhD, and Instructor at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. “GO encourages anyone working in cancer to use the Map to get and give valuable information about their projects, contributing to cancer care for patients no matter where they are.”

GO and its recent endeavors have attracted support from leaders in global health and oncology:

"GO’s team of dedicated, multi-talented professionals has created an innovative online resource for cross-pollination among those working to improve access to quality cancer care in low-resource settings. By providing the means for experts around the world to share programs and knowledge, the Map furthers our goal of advancing global health equity."

Howard Hiatt, M.D., Associate Chief of the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and former Dean of the Harvard School of Public Health.

"Having traveled extensively and worked in medical clinics in Cambodia, I have seen firsthand the enormous disparities in health care based solely on where you happen to live. Availability of care for cancer patients is even more sparse in the developing world where a diagnosis of cancer is often a death sentence. GO’s Global Cancer Project Map is aimed at changing that and linking our world so that we can all contribute to closing that gap."

Robert Negrin, M.D., Chief of BMT and Professor of Medicine at Stanford University

New Jersey Community Bank Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year Results for 2014

Draft

FREEHOLD, NJ, United States, via ETELIGIS INC., 03/23/2015 – – New Jersey Community Bank (OTCQB: NJCB) (the “Bank”) reported net loss of $123 thousand, or $(0.06) per common share for the three months ended December 31, 2014, compared to the fourth quarter 2013 net loss of $1.6 million, or $(0.82) per common share. For the year 2014, the Bank reported net loss of $68 thousand, or $(0.04) per common share compared with net loss of $1.2 million, or $(0.65) per common share for the year 2013.

The earnings for the year 2014 were negatively impacted by a combination of both a decline in total loans and continued decrease in interest yields on earning assets. The earnings were further impacted by increases in professional fees and the federal insurance assessment as the Bank works its way through in complying with the regulatory consent order issued in March of 2014. Provision for loan loss continues to weigh in on earnings as management attempts to address the asset quality and problem credits.

Annual Meeting Date:

The Board of Directors voted that the Annual Meeting of Shareholders shall be held on April 30, 2015 at the American Hotel in Freehold, New Jersey at 9:30am. The record date of March 17, 2015 was established for the determination of the shareholders entitled to notice of, and to vote at the annual meeting.

Balance Sheet Summary:

At December 31, 2014, total assets were $122.0 million, a decrease of $22.5 million compared to year end 2013, primarily due to decline in total cash and equivalents and total loans. Total cash and cash equivalents were $5.8 million, a decrease of $10.8 million from year end 2013. Total investment securities decreased $1.1 million to $16.7 million at December 31, 2014 compared with year end 2013.

Total loans receivable decreased $8.8 million from December 31, 2013, primarily due to pay-offs of certain loans and more specifically a sizeable portion of classified loans. The cash flow resulting from the decrease in total loans was largely used to fund the run-off of matured deposits.

Deposits totaled $107.1 million at December 31, 2014, a decrease of $20.9 million from year end 2013, primarily as a result of management’s decision to utilize the excess liquidity to fund the matured time deposits. Of the total decrease, non-interest bearing deposits decreased $2.6 million, largely offset by an increase of $1.9 million in savings, NOW and money market deposits. Time deposits decreased $20.2 million, from year ago primarily due to the maturity run-off. Shareholders’ equity totaled $14.5 million at December 31, 2014. The Bank’s capital ratios continue to remain strong, with a leverage ratio of 10.54%, a tier 1 risk based capital ratio of 13.19% and a total risk based capital ratio of 14.45%. These ratios exceed those needed to be deemed a well-capitalized financial institution.

Fourth Quarter 2014:

For the quarter ended December 31, 2014, net interest income totaled $1.0 million, an increase of $68 thousand over the same period in the prior year. Total interest income in the prior year fourth quarter was negatively impacted by a sizeable increase in non-performing loans and reversal of interest income previously recognized. Excluding that impact, total interest income in the fourth quarter of this year would have declined comparatively. The reduction in interest expense on deposits was a result of declining interest rates on deposits.

The provision for loan loss was $263 thousand for the fourth quarter 2014, a decrease of $397 thousand compared to the year-ago quarter. The allowance for loan loss at period-end was $1.6 million, or 1.83% of total loans compared with $2.0 million, or 2.09% of total loans for the same period in the prior year. Management continually monitors the adequacy of the allowance for loan loss and considers the current level of the allowance for loan losses to be adequate.

Non-interest income decreased $38 thousand to $78 thousand for the quarter ended December 31, 2014 compared with $116 thousand for the same quarter in the prior year. The majority of the decrease is directly related to decrease in fees and service charges on deposit accounts.

Non-interest expense totaled $1.1 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2014, a decrease of $2.0 million from year-ago quarter, primarily related to a litigation cost incurred in the same quarter last year.

Full Year 2014:

For the full year ended December 31, 2014, net interest income totaled $4.4 million, decreasing $163 thousand over the full prior year. The decrease in net interest income was primarily due to a decline in total interest income resulting from a decrease in total loans offset by a reduction in interest paid on deposits resulting primarily from declining balances in time deposits. For the year, average interest earning assets and average interest bearing liabilities declined $2.5 million and $1.8 million, respectively, while the yield on interest earning assets declined 7 basis points and the cost of interest paying deposits decline 1 basis point. Net interest margin for the year declined 5 basis points to 3.48% over prior year.

The provision for loan loss was $628 thousand for the year, a decrease of $227 thousand compared to prior year. The provision for loan loss continues to be impacted by heightened level of classified loans during the year.

Non-interest income totaled $421 thousand for the year 2014 reflecting a decrease of $27 thousand over the full year 2013, primarily resulting from decreases in fees on deposit accounts.

Non-interest expense totaled $4.2 million for the full year 2014, a reduction of $1.9 million over prior full year, majority of which was related to the litigation cost recorded in the year 2013. Salaries and employee benefits, the largest component of non-interest expense, increased $47 thousand as a result of increased health benefit costs and normal annual salary increases. Professional fees increased $246 thousand primarily due to the consulting services utilized in connection with the compliance of the regulatory consent order. Also as a result of the consent order, the federal insurance assessment increased $165 thousand. The results for 2013 reflect the impact of a $2.0 million litigation cost recorded in connection with a judgment against the Bank. During the second quarter 2014, a reversal of $500 in litigation expense was recorded as the Bank reached a settlement at a cost lower than the accrued expense. Data processing costs increased $72 thousand year over year as a result of onetime expenses associated with the installation of a new core processing system. Occupancy and equipment, advertising and all other expenses combined increased year over year.
